Smoky Quartz Crystals
Smoky quartz is a type of quartz that grows in a variety of shades of colors. They can be a pale grey color to a deep root beer brown color, and everything in between. The quartz obtains this color from natural radiation deep in the earth. Unfortunately, some people take rock quartz and irradiate it to form smoky quartz that they sell. We don't care for these stones and don't knowingly deal with altered material. These stones can look very, very black, like they are "cooked". There are natural smoky quartz that are very dark, but usually the natural stones are a bit lighter. Smoky quartz can have inclusions, like chlorite, tourmaline, rutile and hematite, to name a few. They can also have phantom lines and all sorts of internal veils and skeletal structures that make them very interesting to look at. They grow in many places around the world, from the USA to South America to the Himalayas.
Energetically speaking, smoky quartz is a very grounding and protective stone. People who find it hard to keep their feet on the ground, or who seem like their heads are in the clouds, can benefit from the grounding qualities of smoky quartz. Many people place them around their house or business as a way to help keep it safe and protected. We carry a large piece in our car. People who have a tendency to "fly off" during meditation like to use smoky quartz as a way to be able to "go out" while staying tethered to the earth plane.
If you are looking for a specific form of smoky quartz that you don't see on our web site, please feel free to contact us. We also have it available in tumbled stones so you can take a piece with you wherever you go.

Smoky Elestial Quartz Plate
This is a sweet elestial quartz. This type of quartz is also known as alligator back quartz or jacquare quartz. The crystals grow in more of a horizontal tabular fashion instead of a vertical one. They help you push through obstacles. They have a very determined kind of energy. The top of this "plate" is filled with crystals while the back is plain smoky quartz. It fits nicely in your hand. #SQ-18
5 inches x 2 1/2 inches x 3/4 inch thick.

Small Smoky Elestial
This is a sweet little smoky elestial quartz. Also known as alligator back, or jacquare quartz, the crystals grow in a more horizontal tabular fashion than a vertical one. This is a piece that fits nicely in the palm of your hand and is in a scraper kind of shape. A great stone to work with when you are trying to push past obstacles. Elestials are known for their grounding, determined energy. #SQ-19

Natural Smoky Quartz Crystal
This is a neat smoky. It was double terminated at some point, as part of the lower termination is still present. The other half of it is gone though. It has a nice, deep smoky brown color, with internal veils and wisps. It is definitely rough around the edges with dings here and there, including the tip. But I decided to go ahead and put it on the website because it has such a powerful "just do it" kind of feel to it. Nice and grounding. It has more of an elestial kind of energy, the energy that helps you push past obstacles. #SQ-16
3 inches x 2 inches.

Smoky Quartz Cluster with Feldspar
I like seeing crystals in their natural state. That is why I like this one. There are 6 smoky quartz crystals of various sizes all growing together, alongside a nice piece of feldspar. It is definitely rough. No acid washing or polishing has been done. Just a natural, dark smoky cluster. Many times smoky's this dark would make me thing that it had been irradiated. But I know the minor who dug this and he never alters stones. Just a fun piece. #SQ-17
1 3/4 inches tall x 2 1/4 inches wide.
