Smoky Quartz Crystals

Smoky quartz is a type of quartz that grows in a variety of shades of colors. They can be a pale grey color to a deep root beer brown color, and everything in between. The quartz obtains this color from natural radiation deep in the earth. Unfortunately, some people take rock quartz and irradiate it to form smoky quartz that they sell. We don't care for these stones and don't knowingly deal with altered material. These stones can look very, very black, like they are "cooked". There are natural smoky quartz that are very dark, but usually the natural stones are a bit lighter. Smoky quartz can have inclusions, like chlorite, tourmaline, rutile and hematite, to name a few. They can also have phantom lines and all sorts of internal veils and skeletal structures that make them very interesting to look at. They grow in many places around the world, from the USA to South America to the Himalayas.

Energetically speaking, smoky quartz is a very grounding and protective stone. People who find it hard to keep their feet on the ground, or who seem like their heads are in the clouds, can benefit from the grounding qualities of smoky quartz. Many people place them around their house or business as a way to help keep it safe and protected. We carry a large piece in our car. People who have a tendency to "fly off" during meditation like to use smoky quartz as a way to be able to "go out" while staying tethered to the earth plane.

Smoky Quartz Crystal

This crystal has a nice grey-brown color. It has good clarity with just enough veils and wisps to make it interesting to look at. It also has what is called a penetrator crystal in the back. This is where another crystal has grown into this crystal and you can still see it's tip inside the stone. Not the same as a manifestation crystal (where an entire crystal is fully encased in another crystal) but it's still neat! #SQ-1

Smoky Quartz Crystal

This crystal has some interesting internal veils and wisps. They look like a picture of a distant galaxy. Very fluid feeling. The crystal has a nice grey-brown color with good clarity and some rainbows. It has a nice grounding feeling and would be a great meditation stone, especially for those who tend to really "fly out there".  #SQ-2

The veils and wisps inside this lovely crystal look like something from outer space. And some of them reflect the light well, forming internal rainbows. It has a nice grey-brown color with nice clarity so you can really see all that is going on inside this stone. It does have a small pit on one edge (you can see it in the picture near the top left) that it got on it's journey to us from Brazil so we have discounted the price accordingly. It's energy feels very protective and grounding.  #SQ-3

Smoky Quartz Crystal

This stone has a lovely grey-brown color with good clarity. Inside there are numerous wisps and veils that play with the light. There are some areas of rainbows too. It does have some small pits on the top edge (you can see it in the picture near the top right.) that it got on it's journey to us from Brazil so we have discounted the price accordingly. It doesn't seem to effect the lovely grounding and protective energy of this crystal.  #SQ-4
