Amethyst Crystals

Amethyst are a beautiful form of purple quartz. They grow in a variety of colors, from pale lavender to deep dark purples. Though Brazil is known as the amethyst capital with it's abundance of amethyst geodes, the stone can be found in other places as well. Bolivia has some beautiful specimens that are known for their deep color and unusually large crystals found in clusters. Uruguay has the deep dark purple stones that are made into gemstones. South America isn't the only place amethyst grows. Africa has some exquisite specimens, especially the clusters known as "Spirit Amethyst". Ontario has "Thunder Bay Amethyst" that are a deep purple with a covering of red hematite. The USA has multiple areas that amethyst grows in small crystals as well as scepters along with smoky quartz. Austria and Russian also mine amethyst.

Amethyst has been used for centuries for it's metaphysical properties. It was used by the Greeks to guard against intoxication, to help keep one protected and for good health. Since those days, amethyst has continued to be used by different cultures as a talisman for good health, protection and prosperity. It is used in stone layouts, elixirs and jewelry to be of benefit to it's user. The energy of the stone corresponds to the 7th, or crown chakra. It is used by people to help get them on their spiritual path. It helps open them to universal knowledge, universal truth and energy. It is a gentle stone and is used by beginning crystal enthusiasts and energy workers, as well as experienced practitioners. It's a lovely stone with much to offer.

Beautiful Amethyst

This crystal has a lovely deep purple color throughout the stone with some areas of white quartz in patches (the back side of the crystal is more uniform purple). I realize this photograph makes it look more like charoite but the stone definitely looks like an amethyst in person. There are tons of internal veils and wisps that play with the light. Stunning. This stone feels very gentle and fluid like, yet with a "get it done" feel as well.  #Amethyst-8

Pretty Amethyst

This amethyst is unique in that it has a lot of white quartz striations in it. They almost look like fibers. All of this mixed in with a nice deep purple. There are some areas with rainbows, and a small bit of clarity. But for the most part, this crystal is full of neat things to look at. It has a nice, gentle energy to it as well.  #Amethyst-11

Sweet Amethyst

This is such a pretty amethyst crystal. It has a nice purple color, with areas of clarity and rainbows (one right on the tip). The bottom of the stone is actually purple. Not sure why it came through as brownish in the picture. A good stone for opening to your spiritual journey. #Amethyst-12

Lovely Amethyst

This is a very nice amethyst. It has nice purple hues with some colorless quartz on part of the bottom. It isn't quite so grey on the bottom as the picture shows. It has enough clarity to see all the internal veils and wisps. And it is a nice size with good weight. A good altar piece, or to meditate with. Interesting Amethyst

This amethyst is interesting because of everything that is going on inside of it. There are starburst type patterns, veils, wisps, sparkly areas, areas where the lighter colored quartz almost looks like fibers, all housed in a nice deep purple crystal. The shape is even interesting. The top is a bit offset and the top is more blunt than a sharp point. It fits in your hand well, so it would be a great meditation or healing piece. It has a sweet energy with a splash of "Just do it!" kind of energy.  #Amethyst-15

Water Polished Amethyst Phantom

This is such a unique crystal. It is a big heavy (over 2 pounds) piece of deep, dark, purple amethyst that has been water polished. The sides have a softer, almost waxy feel, unlike a traditional machine polish like you find on most polished crystals. It has almost a bit of a free form shape and the edges are, surprisingly, a bit rough, especially along the top edge and the edges of the faces. To top it all off, it is a phantom with numerous phantom lines. Wow. The color is so deep and rich. A real worker crystal. #Amethyst-16

Lovely Amethyst Phantom

This is such a sweet crystal. It has a nice purple color through most of the stone, despite the camera accentuating the greyer colored quartz at the bottom. Sweet Amethyst
