Lapis Lazuli For Sale

Lapis Lazuli, or just Lapis, is a stone with a beautiful deep blue color. The best grade, known as AA or AAA grade, comes from Afghanistan. These specimens are a deep dark blue with little to no white calcite. Pyrite also grows with lapis, adding a sprinkling of gold which stands out nicely against the royal or indigo blue. Chilean lapis has a tendency to have more white calcite with it, which makes for a lovely contrast of colors. Lapis has been used for centuries in jewelry and in the breast plates of high priests. It was used by the ancient Egyptians. It is even ground for a pigment color by fine artists. It is known as a stone of communication, encouraging one to speak their universal truth.

AA Grade Lapis Lazuli

This is a lovely piece of lapis from Afghanistan. The color is a deep blue. There are areas of pyrite and a small bit of white calcite. A great stone for helping with communication. It has been freeform polished on one side only, allowing the beauty of the stone to shine next to the natural side. This could be cut into numerous cabochons as well. #M-71
