Fossils Page 2
Fossils are like windows to what our world used to be like. Trilobites that are millions of years old show every detail of these first vertebrates. Fossilized megalodon teeth give us an idea as to how massive these prehistoric sharks must have been. Some ammonites (sea fossils) not only have beautiful details on their fossilized shells but some have actually turned to opal, giving flashes of deep reds and greens. Even fossilized dinosaur eggs have been found, allowing us to see this amazing piece of history. And these are all part of our collection of fossils for sale.
We have sea plate fossils for sale from Morocco with ammonites and orthoceras, fossilized sharks and megalodon teeth from the Southeast United States and fossil fish plates from Utah. Also available are dinosaur plates, whale vertebrae, mastodon teeth and jaw sections and cave bear hands. Each fossil, like all of natures masterpieces, is a one of a kind unique piece. And they give us an incredible glimpse into our past.

Fossilized Sharks Teeth
Sharks teeth are one of the common fossils of sharks, since their skeleton is made of cartilage instead of bone. Some teeth can be hundreds of millions of years old. And the color of the tooth is determined by the color of the sediment it was in. This tooth is representative of the smaller teeth that we have in stock. Intact with great ridges along the edges. #F9

Orthoceras
Orthoceras are extinct members of the cephalopod class with a long, straight, conical shell which could grow as long as 60 feet. The interior is divided into numerous chambers. These invertebrates swam the ocean by using a jet propulsion type system that expelled water from the chambers thus pushing them forward. They are related to the modern day squid, cuttlefish, and octopus and date back 350 million years ago. Fossilized cephalopods are found in the Sahara Desert, Morocco. These are nice flat pieces. We have a few in stock, so we can offer them at a great price! Each one is different. #F11
About 6 in. high.

Massive Orthoceras
This is a great fossil! It is almost 6 feet high. We photographed it next to a light switch so you could see how tall this piece is. It is quite tall. But they could grow to be over 60 feet in length! Because of how difficult it would be to ship this piece, not to mention the fact that it could get broken, this fossil is available only for pick up, or we can deliver it in the San Francisco Bay area, depending on the destination.
It has had one repair that we know of, which apparently isn't uncommon in fossils this large. #F20

Fossilized Turtle Shell
This is an unusual fossil. It is a fossilized turtle shell. Turtles are among the oldest creatures still living on the earth today. They first appear in the fossil record in rocks over 200 million years old. Turtles were alive at least 50 million years before the first dinosaurs. It's a bit weathered but you can see some detail of the shell plates. #F16
10 in. long x 9 in. wide
